Analysis: Marion departed with 2:19 to go in the first half Monday night and the team said early in the third quarter he would not return. The forward finished with six points. The 31-year-old Marion was acquired from Toronto in a four-team, eight-player deal in July.

Analysis: Marion said after Sunday night's game that he didn't think the injury was serious, but wanted to give it some time to fully heal. He missed the preseason opener with the same injury, then had 26 points in the second exhibition.

Analysis: Marion sat out the preseason opener with a calf injury. "He is a unique player," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. "All of us have all really loved him from a far and are really happy to have him with us. He's going to bring a lot of good things to us on both ends."

Analysis: Marion made four All-Star teams with the run-and-gun Suns, developing a reputation as one of the league's most dynamic players on both ends of the court. Since his departure from Phoenix midway through the 2007-08 season, however, Marion has seen a sharp decline in production. Despite the statistical fall off, he has the talent to be a major contributor alongside Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and Josh Howard in Dallas, perhaps vaulting the Mavs back into the West elite.

Analysis: The trade is not official, but the person told The Associated Press on Wednesday it should be completed. The person was granted anonymity because the deal was still being worked on. The Raptors couldn't afford to re-sign Marion because they need to clear salary cap space for Hedo Turkoglu. They are close to an agreement with the Orlando Magic free agent.
