Strasburg earned the win for Phoenix - 7-4 over Scottsdale - because of the liberal Fall League scoring rules. Analysis: He was removed after throwing 50 pitches, the limit set by the Nationals as Strasburg works himself back into shape after spending most of the summer in contract negotiations. |

Analysis: Strasburg signed a record-breaking contract for a draft pick Monday night, a guaranteed $15.1 million over four years. The Nationals plan to send the San Diego State right-hander to the Florida Instructional League, followed by the Arizona Fall League. Given all the hoopla surrounding his arrival, Strasburg was asked what will happen after he pitches his first shutout. His answer: "Maybe a fly-by of Air Force One." |
